A VERY BIG THANKS
to all who turned out for the John Koberstein Benefit
At 4 years old John Koberstein was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia and given only six months to live. John is now 37 years old and has lived a normal, very active life. He played sports, ran track and field and even won the Presidential physical fitness award in high school. John started, built and ran a very successful business for the last 7 years and was even nominated for the Jr. First Citizens Award for working with the community on various projects. Unfortunately, the disease has resurfaced and he has been forced to dissolve the business in preparation for a Bone Marrow Transplant. John has an identical twin brother Issa Koberstein, who will most likely be the donor for the bone marrow transplant. Recently, John was hospitalized and spent 10 days in ICU do to complications of the disease. It has been touch and go, but he is still here and feeling much better now. In between all the doctor appointments and lab tests, he has exhausted every effort to raise money to get through this unpredictable situation. He is expected to be hospitalized for 4-6 months after the bone marrow transplant, with 1 year of recovery and not working, John has a son Justin, who is also being affected by his fathers illness and needs our support as well. Issa Koberstein, John's identical twin brother played guitar with his band ISSA and We Have Guns at the benefit. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to help pay for medical costs that insurance does not cover as well as after care for the time he will be out of work.
